Winterberry Heights Church is one of hundreds of churches within The Salvation Army located around the world. As you may know, there are two legs on which The Salvation Army stands; social and spiritual. Back in the 1800’s when William Booth founded “The Army” in England, he believed that first and foremost, man’s basic needs (food, shelter, health) must be met at which time mankind would be ready to take care of his spirit and relationship with God. To satisfy these needs, he organized his Church in a military style with each person having some form of military rank, from the ‘General’, who resides in London, England and provides Vision world-wide, down to each individual church member.
For hundreds of years now, mankind has been cared for by The Salvation Army satisfying both his spiritual and basic survival needs. Winterberry Heights Church supports this mission and we believe in satisfying the holistic (total, combined) needs of mankind and in particular, our neighbourhood of which you are a part.
ACTIVITIES FOR EVERYONE
In order to satisfy your holistic needs, we believe we must have a wide variety of programs and activities for everyone. To meet this goal, the following is a list of current activities that we offer.
Pioneer Club : for all young people between the ages of 4 -12. We love our children and would open our arms to having yours join us for fun and fellowship.
Bible Study/Discussion Groups: During these activities, we talk about the issues in today’s life and how, in the scriptures, we can find solutions to all our problems.
Women’s Fellowship : there are two women’s groups that meet for activities of fun and Christian fellowship.
Brass Band : if you have musical ability or would like to learn, our Band would be a great opportunity for you to participate.
Saturday Family Breakfast : instead of going to the local restaurant or cooking your own breakfast on a Saturday morning, join us. No speeches, just all-you-can-eat breakfast for a small, nominal fee.
